Why Would God Use Me to Write Bible Studies?

God can use anyone to accomplish His purpose.

I remember the night I became a Christian at a Methodist Church Camp in Okoboji, Iowa while in Jr. High. (1981) There was a special service down by the lake. God led me down to the edge of the water and filled me with His Holy Spirit. I remember feeling warmed by His love and crying (something I am still good at). When I was back home in Sgt. Bluff, Iowa, I knew I had to spread God’s word. The first Bible verse I memorized (from my Grandma Deppey’s Bible) was the strength I needed. Isaiah 41:10 (NASB) ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ God started using me (my Spiritual gift) so I taught a Sunday school class. Fast forward my life...in college I earned a degree in Elementary Education from Minot State University in North Dakota.

I am married to David (1987) and we have four children; Ryland, Mitchell, Blais and Karysa. We traveled much during his 20 yrs in the Air Force. Everywhere we moved (ND, NV, MT, IA, WY, England) we found a church and then we found our friends.  I have been blessed to be a stay at home mom to our children and continue the love of teaching through     Bible studies, Sunday school and Bible school.   I am involved with community activities and crochet prayer blankets.

After Air Force retirement in 2005, we moved near family to Maquoketa, Iowa. Here we were again in a new place where I know God sent us. While attending the First United Methodist Church I started teaching Sunday school. Many people lead busy lives and did not want a Bible study with homework. They wanted to come and learn and be together in the Bible. I looked at many Bible studies and could not find one that fit the way I wanted to teach. I know God equips those He calls to service. Ephesians 4:11-12. And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ. Although I am good at protesting for awhile it is just easier to give in to what God wants for your life. One of my favorite verses is from Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Christ has strengthened me indeed to write Bible studies.

I am thankful for the love of God, family, friends and my class. Believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins so we will meet in heaven and partake from the tree of life. My hope is to spread the word of God.

So…with the utterances and strength of God I began writing. 1Peter 4:11 (NASB) Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
